Goal Setting…

Are you ready for another one? ha ha Ready or not, here I come! I am interested in your goals that you would like to accomplish in the next six months. This is a writing blog, but I want to hear any and all goals that will be affecting your life from now until July.

Some of my (real/realistic) goals is to finish my novel, finish writing my monologue for Mirrors, be finishing my blog tour “successfully” and hopefully be at least half way through the rough draft of my next novel.

My unrealistic, but goals just the same is to be on the Today Show (for my writing, not for a crazy criminal caught on tape or something), be one of the hottest sellers on Amazon, make as much money as the Fifty Shades lady and on and on and on. Like I said, realistic or not, they are still goals. πŸ™‚

So now I would love for you to share yours with me, and the world, and I will make a point of contacting each of you six months from now to do a follow-up. How does that sound? Which would be quite an honor if I am suddenly famous, don’t ya think? πŸ™‚ Just playing, but seriously, we will do a follow-up blog to see how close we all were or if we exceeded our own expectations!

Setting goals and having deadlines are actually some of the best tools to have and work with. The old saying that “the busier you are the more that you get done” is so very true on many levels. You have too much time on your hands and you will tend to procrastinate way more than you would if you only had a couple of hours of free time. Just something to think about.

So come on, I am waiting for all of your goals!!

  1. My 6 month goals are to get my next novel out in a few weeks time (easily achievable), edit and get my nano novel out in July (no problem), write another novel in my Sinclair series (at least halfway through definitely) and get another 10 short stories written so I can release my anthology (possible). Non writing goal is to lose 2 stone in weight (eek..!). Right ‘out there’ goals are to make as much money from my writing as JK Rowling, be so well known that I’m recognised in the street (for my writing, not for airing some embarrassing habit on the Jeremy Kyle show by the way) and to be interviewed on the Jay Leno show. Oh, and to have Vin Diesel and/or Dwayne Johnson say they loved my first space opera series so much they want to make a movie about it.
    See you in July…!

  2. We are living in a world of snow here in Eskdale (Yorkshire). It’s been like this for ten days – but we could get the car out if we could be bothered to slide about. I’ve just been shovelling again around our house and that of a frail neighbour. I’ve dug out his paths. He flew in mosquitos during the war, so clearing snow for him is the least I can do.
So plenty of space for progress with the sequel to ‘Tom Fleck’ (a story of the year of Flodden). 12k so far; but 12k of material that seems like two stories – but now I’m weaving together the strands. A blind girl in the sand dunes and a conflict with Barbary pirates far to the south. Hey Ho!
